MOVE! Forward

Location: PEC B & C (Bldg. 26, Rooms 023/024)
 
MOVE! is a weight management, health promotion program designed to improve the lives of Veterans. MOVE!’s core ideas—encouraging healthy eating behavior, increasing physical activity, and promoting even small weight losses—are easy to follow and based on the latest in nutrition science. With the help of your MOVE! care team, you can reduce health risks, prevent or reverse certain diseases, improve your quality of life, and even live longer!

Advance Care Planning Group
 
Time: 10:00 AM- 11:30 AM (CST)
Location: Liberty Room (Bldg. 29, Room 029)
 
Advance Care Planning group consists of a group of Veterans, including family members and/or friends they wish to bring to involve in the conversation, to discuss healthcare wishes in a safe place.  Discussion also includes clarifying values and wishes for future healthcare.
At least 1-2 medical social workers present to answer questions and receive guidance and assistance with completing a healthcare directive if they wish.
 
Taking Charge of My Life and Health
 
Time: 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM (CST)
Location: First Presbyterian Church
 
This 9 week course will take a deeper look into your health goals, provide health and wellness education regarding the Eight Whole Health Components of Proactive Health and Wellbeing.  Veteran will sample Complementary Health approaches such as Yoga and Tai Chi as well as establish a Personalized Health Plan.
 
Tai Chi
 
Time: 2:00 PM- 3:00 PM (CST)
Location: Edgemoor Park
 
These Tai Chi classes are limited to 15 veterans in the community park. Walk-ins are welcome until we are at capacity. Mindful Movement - This is a mind-body exercise for people of all abilities, including those in wheelchairs or use a walker.

Healthy Teaching Kitchen – VVC
 
Time: 2:30 PM- 3:30 PM (CST)
Location: VA Video Connect (VVC)
 
The Healthy Teaching Kitchen VVC class is similar to the Healthy Teaching Kitchen Demonstration & Tasting. The VVC version is designed to fit the needs of Veterans that would prefer a virtual class. This is also a class for Veterans that would like to practice hands-on cooking while in the comfort of their own kitchen space. All Veterans in the class are held to high confidentiality standards regarding their own space and others in the class.

You must attend the MOVE! Intro course prior to being enrolled in this course.

Tai Chi
 
Time: 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM (CST)
Location: Auditorium
 
These Tai Chi classes are limited to 15 Veterans in the community park and 25 in the Auditorium. Walk-ins are welcome until we are at capacity. Mindful Movement - This is a mind-body exercise for people of all abilities, including those in wheelchairs or use a walker.
 
Yoga
 
Time: 4:30 PM- 5:30 PM (CST)
Location: Dole VA Auditorium
 
This Yoga class is limited to 15 participants for the next few months but walk-ins are welcome until we are at capacity.
