Healthy Teaching Kitchen on a Budget
 
Time: 9:00 AM- 10:30 AM (CST)
Location: Bldg. 5, Rm. 102
 
The Healthy Teaching Kitchen on a Budget class is a series of 3 monthly classes scheduled during January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December. This class aims to help Veterans stretch their food budget. Topics include: grocery shopping and meal planning (Class #1); meal prep and cooking recommendations to help manage Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and other diseases (Class #2); and simple meals and snack ideas (class #3). All classes are taught considering the needs of Veterans that are experiencing financial difficulties.

The MOVE! Support Group offers a variety of topics related to Weight Management and Health to provide on-going support for Veteran efforts in continuing or maintaining weight loss and health improvements.

Taking Charge of My Life and Health

Location: First Presbyterian Church
 
This 9 week course will take a deeper look into your health goals, provide health and wellness education regarding the Eight Whole Health Components of Proactive Health and Wellbeing.  Veteran will sample Complementary Health approaches such as Yoga and Tai Chi as well as establish a Personalized Health Plan.
 
Tai Chi
 
Time: 2:00 PM- 3:00 PM (CST)
Location: Edgemoor Park
 
These Tai Chi classes are limited to 15 veterans in the community park. Walk-ins are welcome until we are at capacity. Mindful Movement - This is a mind-body exercise for people of all abilities, including those in wheelchairs or use a walker.

An Introduction Class to the Whole Health Model of Heath Care focused on identifying what matters most to a veteran in regards to their health and wellness.  You will learn about Whole Health, explore what matters in your life, and start looking at what your personal health goals are.  You will also learn about all the different Whole Health Services and Offerings.

Advance Care Planning Group

Location: Liberty Room (Bldg. 29, Room 029)
 
Advance Care Planning group consists of a group of Veterans, including family members and/or friends they wish to bring to involve in the conversation, to discuss healthcare wishes in a safe place.  Discussion also includes clarifying values and wishes for future healthcare.
At least 1-2 medical social workers present to answer questions and receive guidance and assistance with completing a healthcare directive if they wish.

The Healthy Teaching Kitchen VVC class is similar to the Healthy Teaching Kitchen Demonstration & Tasting. The VVC version is designed to fit the needs of Veterans that would prefer a virtual class. This is also a class for Veterans that would like to practice hands-on cooking while in the comfort of their own kitchen space. All Veterans in the class are held to high confidentiality standards regarding their own space and others in the class.
