For 40 years, March has been recognized as National Nutritional Month by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is ‘the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals’. National Nutrition Month is a time to celebrate the importance of nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Registered dietitians are also recognized for their services during this month.

This year’s theme for National Nutrition Month is ‘Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day.’ Everyone is encouraged to make healthy choices that are personalized to their individual lifestyle and eating habits.  We all have different schedules, food preferences, cultural backgrounds and lifestyles and there is no one food plan that fit’s everyone’s needs.  Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is promoting National Nutrition Month throughout the hospital with posters, digital signs, banners, and a bulletin board with nutrition related facts and resources.

March also is a month where we celebrate national ‘Registered Dietitians Day’. This is March 13 and it is a day where we recognize dietitians for their work and efforts in providing credible nutrition information to the public. A registered dietitian is an individual who is current with the most scientific based research and evidence. They have the most reputable and up to date sources of nutrition information.

Let’s make March a life changing experience. Learn more about how you can incorporate nutrition and still fit your needs at For more nutrition tips and handouts visit:
